Isaac and Joshua, Children’s Portraits Minneapolis

Photographing kids can either be a blessing or a nightmare. Face it – kids have their own agenda, whether we like it or not. But what also sets kids apart is their innocence and free spirit. Photographing these two brothers posed some difficulties getting them to open up to the camera, but once acquainted to the camera made for some really nice shots. The other key with kids is getting them in their element. Though they may be portraits, photographing kids is a lot like photographing candids – you have to be ready at any given moment to capture the true nature of them interacting in their surroundings. The bubble picture for instance is a good example of how kids can be so fascinated by the littlest things. And getting that on camera provides for some very touching shots.

Children and Family Portraits, Minneapolis

Getting the family together for family portraits often is a challenge to say the least. Yet, the outcome can be well worth the “hassle.” Traditional family portraits, though serve their purpose, can be overdone. Incorporating different elements to the portraits such as textured backgrounds, multi-image photos and different toning can all add to the photos. This is especially true with child photography because every child has their own unique personality. And depending which personality wants to show up the day of the session can be complimented, regardless if bad or good, with certain effects. Photoshop has come along way over the years, and keeping up with the latest techniques to obtain the most from the program is also key to an overall good portrait photography experience.
